Getting High in Colorado

Writer's picture: Kelly MillerKelly Miller

Skyline Drive was an unexpected adrenaline rush. We took this one lane, one way, street up and over a spine of the mountains down to the town of Cañon City, Colorado. Jonathan says it’s like an Angels Landing for your car!

Continuing on with our afternoon of adrenaline we took a helicopter ride over to the Royal Gorge Bridge! At almost 1000 feet, it is the highest bridge in elevation in the US. It is also one of the only bridges like it in that it serves absolutely no purpose for transportation. This bridge was specifically built for tourist and does not actually go anywhere.

It was a windy afternoon and so the helicopter was swinging around a little bit like a pendulum underneath the rotors. This provided an extra thrill as we experienced the river, gorge and bridge from our birds eye view.

A big thanks to Royal Gorge Helitours for an awesome afternoon!
