Holland, Michigan Area Breweries Review

While in the area of Holland, Michigan we decided to try some of the famous breweries. Here is our review of their IPAs.

We asked our server, Justin, for a flight of juicy hopped beers that would be similar to the Peach Space that we were most interested in trying.

He was very knowledgeable about the available beers and provided us with a great selection for our flight of four.

  1. Tasmanian Hatter- gold, clear, moderate thin foam, bubbly, green, piney, hoppy dry finish.

  2. Super Space - double IPA (double version of the tangerine space) - pale, hazy, fizzy, tangerine, citrusy, aggressive hops, fruit finish.

  3. Peach Space - pale, hazy, thin foam, slow fizz, peach, medium hop, fruit finish

  4. Tangerine Space - straw, slight haze, thin foam, low fizz, citrusy, tangerine, medium hops, dry fruity finish.

The double cheese burger was appropriately meaty and topped with crisp fresh lettuce, tomato, and melted cheddar that dripped out onto the salty seasoned  fries. No ketchup needed. We recommend the burger although our table neighbors had a turkey bacon avocado club sandwich that looked pretty darn good as well.

This was a quick stop and we didn't order any food. Their IPA options were more limited than our other brewery visits in the area.

  1. Melon Ball Double IPA; gold, clear, moderate thin foam, lite fizz, lemon, melon, slightly sour nose and sweet finish.

  2. Rainbow Rodeo IPA; gold, clear, moderate thin foam, fizzy, nutty pine, with a hoppy dry finish.

  1. Peach Haze: gold, hazy, lite fizz, with a sweet peach start, and sweet finish.

  2. Blood Orange Haze: amber, hazy, lite fizz, not much of the citrus orange flavor typical of most juicies, just a basic ipa with a slightly hoppy finish.

  3. Big Lake Camper IPA: gold, hazy, lite fizz, mid grade hoppy slightly pine ipa.

  4. 7th Street IPA: gold, hazy, lite fizz, almost double with a mouthy heaviness, dry hoppy finish.

  5. Rye Coe IPA: amber, clear, lite fizz, spicy rye, dry hoppy, bitter finish

  6. Totally Toasted: crisp clear, semi sweet bubbly apple cider- perfect dessert!

We had the chicken pesto Pizza/Flatbread which had a soft grilled medium thick crust loaded with chicken, olive oil, pesto, and cheese. Service was fast; but mostly self serve on the outdoor patio. Order at the bar and they will bring the food to your table.

Drinks are 1-6 from right to left on the photo (backwards of what you would expect).
