Cleaning Up After an RV Repair

Writer's picture: Jonathan MillerJonathan Miller

Our bedroom slide had been worked on prior to our ownership. Because of this, I did a thorough inspection of the cabling adjustments and seals.

The two bottom cables had noticeable slack. So I pulled the slide all the way in to gain access to the cable operator motor, chain, and cable slack adjusters. I was able to get access from inside the bedroom on the floor by the head of the bed.

Once I climbed underneath the slide, I found multiple sharp objects including screws, pieces of bare copper wire, and brads from a pneumatic nail gun.

Further proof that whenever someone does work on your RV they may not be as particular about cleaning up as you would be.

Had this been a kitchen or living room slide in one of the vinyl floor areas, instead of our carpeted bedroom, these sharp objects could have been caught under the slide and caused major damage to the floor.
