What I've Learned in 7 Months of Full Time RVing (Jonathan's Point of View)

  1. I love State Park RVing. It gives us more room to spread out compared to an RV resort.

  2. I like it green. After spending most of the winter and spring in the southwest deserts, seeing a patch of green in an oasis nearing a river or in Colorado was like getting a drink of cool water for my eyes after out being out hiking in those deserts.

  3. Apps really do save us money. And I’ve signed up for all of them! The $.10 off per gallon or the free food adds up. The time spent on managing the apps is not as big of a burden when you’re on the road.

  4. A lot of people with RVs drive too fast. When I’m cruising along at the maximum approved speed per RV manufacture recommendations of 65 mph (the legal speed limit for RV’s in many states regardless of posted speed limit), I regularly get my doors blown off by somebody speeding by at about 80 mph pulling a three axle fifth wheel with a single axle truck!

  5. I love my camper and my awesome wife!

  6. I always want to be out doing something sightseeing is my jam.

  7. I enjoy fishing more than I thought I would. it gives me another perspective to view and explore the areas where we are staying.

  8. I enjoy having an RV tech license. This gives me a legitimate advantage and confidence to be able to cater to people who need my help at RV parks. It also gives us a little extra money to help cover fuel expenses etc. Also, anyone who owns a camper should know how to use it. I suggest going to school to at least do the owners program.

  9. I understand why the old guys say a fifth wheel is a young man game. Climbing in and out of the bed of the truck is physically strenuous and I am not in as good of shape as I used to be.

  10. Expect the unexpected! The full time RV life is full of surprises- both good and bad.
