Custer State Park

Lakes, Rocks and Buffalo

Custer State Park does not disappoint! This "all seasons" state park has something for everyone. We loved that they offered a 7 day pass to our the park because we definitely couldn't do it all in one day. We started at the Stockade Lake or West entrance to the park and took an immediate right on Lower French Creek Rd. From there we caught the Wildlife Loop Road. Along the Wildlife Loop Road we saw many heards of Bison roaming freely. We continued around the loop and at the State Game Lodge we witnessed a fisherman pulling a large rainbow trout from the river. As we turned onto the Needless Highway we began our ascent up and around the winding road. Our first tunnel was the Iron Creek Tunnel. This tunnel 8'9' Wide and 10'10" Tall. In our Chevy 3500 Dually Truck we maneuvered easily through the tunnel.
