The Mammoth Site

An Impressive Pile of Bones

Discovered in 1974, the Mammoth Site is an excellent hands-on educational opportunity. This active archaeological dig site sits on what was once a sink hole. At the site, you can take the self guided tour which gives a lot of information about the history and ongoing activities at the site. There are also several palentology classes available for kids of all ages to become actively involved at the site. We highly recommend a day trip while you are in the area.
