Sea Rim State Park
A Bird Lovers Paradise Along the Gulf Coast of Texas
Sea Rim State Park is located along the gulf coast in Southeast Texas just across the border from Louisiana. There are only a few camping spots with water and electric. Texas State Parks allow reservations up to 5 months in advance so if you are looking to book a spot at the popular Sea Rim State Park, make sure and set a reminder to book when the reservation system opens for your dates.
When we arrived in late January, there was a huge storm coming in. We weathered the storm and in the morning, because of the storm surge, the beach was a treasure trove of beautiful seashells. Part of this park is marshy and you may see alligators or even wild pigs. While we were there they had a portion of the beach closed for a wild pig hunt. The waterfowl love this area as Sea Rim is located along the Great Texas Coastal Birding Trail.
The sunrise and sunset at Sea Rim are spectacular. We would have loved to kayak the several channels through the marsh but in late January, our days were too cold. Instead we enjoyed several days of driving through McFaddin National Wildlife Refuge.
