Glacier National Park- Logan's Pass

A Sunset Hike to Hidden Lake

The Hidden Lake hike starts at the Logan's Pass Visitor Center and is a 1.5 mile out and 1.5 mile back for a 3 mile round-trip trek to the overlook. When we visited in August 2022 the additional hike down to the lake was closed due to increased bare activity.

We chose to go in the late evening so we would have a better chance of seeing the Big Horn Sheep and the sunset. We raced the setting sun up the bazillion steps and across the mountains and arrived at the overlook just in time for a spectacular display of color.

On our way back down to the visitor center parking lot we got caught in a herd of the sheep and that was a bit scary for a moment. They were only mildly interested in us and so we were able to sneak through and made it back to our truck just as it got dark.
