Glacier National Park- Many Glaciers

An Early Morning Search for Moose

The views of the lake as you turn down the road to Many Glaciers are stunning. The lake was like glass and perfectly reflected the mountains and the sky. As we drove into the park we quickly saw a bear. We got a glimpse of an amazing waterfall right off the road and decided to stop and wander to it. Located just before the Many Glacier Hotel, Swiftcurrent Falls is one of the most spectacular waterfalls we’ve ever seen and easily accessible from the pull off on the road. The Many Glaciers Hotel is a large Alpine style hotel located in the quieter Many Galcier section of the park. The views are amazing and it has quick access to the Saint Mary’s entrance of the Going To the Sun Road. Adjacent to the Swiftcurrent Pass trailhead is also a perfectly serene campground for tents or small RVs.

The Many Glaciers section of the park is also where you can catch the trail to Grinnel Glacier. If you take the boat across the lake it can cut several miles off of this hike.

We chose to take a short 3.6 mile round trip hike from Swiftcurrent Pass Trailhead past 2 lakes to Redrock Falls. We did this hike in the early morning hoping to see some moose. On the way in we saw a beautiful fox and above the waterfall Jonathan caught a fish.

Has we hiked back out at about 9:30 in the morning we caught a moose eating his breakfast in the middle of Fishercap Lake.

As we drove out of the park, along the shore of Lake Sherburne, we got some great views and pictures of a cinnamon black bear.
