Yellowstone National Park Day 1

South Entrance to Grant Village to Fishing Bridge to Canyon Village to Norris

We started at Flagg Ranch and headed north into the park via the south entrance on Hwy 89. Our first stop was Moose Falls where Jonathan and Gene fished below the falls and got several bites.

From there we stopped for a view of the lake and wandered across Fishing Bridge. As we continued on the Grand Loop Rd, we stopped for more fishing along the Yellowstone River. As we came up to an open area just below the Mud Volcano, we saw a herd of bison grazing near the river.

At the mud volcano we did the short boardwalk only loop and saw the boiling mud pits and the dragons mouth. Although some of the more colorful areas of Yellowstone are more famous, here you can feel the anger of the volcano simmering below the surface.

From there we continued on to Artists Point and all of the overlooks for the Upper and Lower Falls of the Yellowstone.

From there we turned on Norris Canyon Rd and just below cascade Falls they caught some fish.
