Apostle Islands National Seashore

A Tour of the Wisconsin National Lakeshore

We took a boat tour to see the Apostle Islands. The famous brownstone quarry and the red striated rock cliffs with their hollowed out “sea caves” along the north shore by the Devil’s Island lighthouse were some of the highlights of the tour. The captain regaled us with stories of bear adventures, and bald eagles, hermits who decided to live out their lives in isolation on the islands, as well as various lore and histories of the islands.

In our opinion, most of the tour was ho hum until we got to the sea caves, those are super interesting. There is also an option to take a sea kayak tour through the caves and if we come back, we'd like to try the kayaks.
