We loved owning our own business! Being your own boss means that you get to set your own hours and take time off when you want! But it also means that you typically work more hours than enyone else, and carry the burdens when others can drop them at the door when they leave the office.

During our years as sticks and bricks business owners, we traveled often. Our vendors would send us on "reward trips" to tropical destinations. We traveled internationally and visited Europe, The Middle East, Australia and just about every Caribbean Island. Typically we would work while we traveled. For instance, one year we spent a month in Israel, Jordan and Egypt. During that time we would get up early and tour the country in the morning. After lunch we would come back to our apartment and get online about the time that our crew and office staff was coming in for the day. We would work with them remotely for a few hours and then go back to touring the country. We typically felt that we did a lot of work before we left on these trips and on the back end. Overall we felt the sacrafice was worth the reward of travel.

We also did a lot of trips where we worked by phone as we traveled. Jonathan handled alot of the sales calls for our business and so I would drive while he would make calls. We still laugh about some of our photos where Jonathan put a client on hold for a few seconds while I took a selfie of us at a location that I wanted to see. Again, we made a lot of sacrafices as business owners but felt they were worth it in the end.
